The newly forming Melges 17 fleet kicked off the ISC Memorial regatta weekend with an open house Friday evening.  The ominous weather radar resulted in lower attendance than hoped, but blue skys and a beautiful sailing evening prevailed.  Sailors from both Eagle Creek SC and ISC attended to check out this modern scow, go for a sail, and enjoy an early summer family cookout on the deck.  Thanks to all who joined us and thanks to Tim and Cori Conder for taking the lead to organize.

Five ISC M17’s were joined by two additional boats from the Lansing, MI SC for the Memorial Regatta.  Our Lansing guests included the 2009 M17 National Champion, Sean and Tiffany Fiddler.  Geist winds averaging from 5 to 10 and “big” shifts challenged both the race committee and crews.  Results are posted at

Next up for the fleet is the Crystal Lake regatta near Traverse City, MI on June 19 and 20.  Crystal Lake has been described as the most beautiful lake in the world.  Its said the water is so clear that light shines up from the bailers.  All M17 ISC skippers and crew are planning to attend with some extending the weekend to a week long family vacation.
